Latest fundraising success

May 6th & 7th

Another two very successful fundraising events took place this weekend raising in total for the sanctuary ?661.67 which is pretty good for a couple of days hard but very enjoyable work.

The first event, the Akrotiri Families Day took place on Friday, again our Tombola stall proved a huge success raising in total ?255.55 plus ?5.30 in the donation box, the MCPS merchandise stall was slightly overshadowed by the Tombola stall as we ended up having to share a tent with another vendor so had to have the stall set back a bit but we raised ?37 and managed to rope in a couple of potential helpers. Thank you to all the people who helped on the stalls especially Russell & Mandy who worked extremely hard beforehand as well as on the day labelling up all the Tombola prizes, to Patsy and Tina for helping me set up plus Mick and Steph, Grace and John, Heather, Peter & Julie, Sylvia, Yvonne and Georgie and her family who did very well selling raffle tickets for the toy rabbit, collecting ?40.55 in total.

I was very sorry that Sheila White couldn’t make the day due to ill health, get better soon Sheila.

Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Tombola stall and sorry, you aren’t being let off yet, we need to start collecting for the Episkopi Families Day in September, so please get rummaging through those cupboards again.

This event was followed swiftly on Saturday by one of our most successful car boot sales ever, we managed to raise ?323.27 in total, taking well over ?100 by 7.30am. It was almost a sell-out which is really good news as we don’t have to struggle packing loads of ‘stuff’ to take home! Thank you to Patsy and Karen, the regular carbooters, especially to Patsy who has to sometimes sort through some rather unsavoury clothing to find what is sellable! Also thanks to Tina & Michael who came along to help also. It was also nice to see some faces from the sanctuary, Russell (with a noticeably quieter voice than Friday on the Tombola!) & Mandy & her Auntie Betty who is a great supporter of ours, Ann Illingworth and Lee and thanks to Mick & Steph for selling a very nice mirror for us.

We hope to have one more car boot sale before the heat really gets too much so any donations of bric-a-brac, CDs, clothes (men’s clothing always wanted) or anything that you think would sell. Please leave it at the sanctuary or email catsanctuary@hotmail.com

The next fundraiser for the sanctuary is our summer disco at Ermogenis Restaurant, Curium on Friday 10th June, tickets are selling well so get yours soon.
