Where
is the Sanctuary?
The sanctuary is situated near Asomatos and Akrotiri, about
10km west of Limassol (Lemesos) in Cyprus. Cyprus is located
in the Eastern Mediterranean, north of Egypt, south of Turkey
and south-east of Greece.
Directions:
Take the Kolossi exit
from the Limassol-Paphos Motorway and turn left at the
T-junction, then
1st right signpost to Akrotiri. Past the castle, past the second
turning to the left, about 1 mile there is a dangerous curve sign, then after
100
yards a
tarmac road to the right, with a red sign for the cat sanctuary.
Turn right and
the Cat Sanctuary is immediately on your left.
.follow signs
to Kolossi
Castle and then Akrotiri. Keep
on the main road to Akrotiri and eventually you will
see a turning
to the left to Asomatos and Limassol - go past this
turning and go past the Military Police building
(on the right). After about 200m look out for a turning
on
the right - you'll see a "slow down - cat sanctuary"
sign -
Alternatively, at the Limassol Port Roundabout
on the Motorway, take the Port exit. Follow
the road almost to the port and turn right at the traffic
lights sign posted to Akrotiri. After about
6km Turn left at the T-Junction towards Akrotiri.
There is a dangerous curve sign, then after
100
yards a
tarmac road to the right, with a red sign for the cat sanctuary.
Turn right and
the Cat Sanctuary is immediately on your left.
If coming along the sea coast road, past the old port roundabout,
go over 4 sets of traffic lights, after about a mile the
road forks, take left-hand road, continue
to T-junction, turn left as above. If you get to Phassouri
nursery you have passed the cat turn off.
If you come to the clearing with large antennas,
you've definately gone too far!

Visiting us...
Feeding times vary depending on the time of the year but are usually around 2:00pm. In the summer when it gets very hot, this can be a little later. You can usually
find someone caring for the cats in the late afternoons.
If you would like to know more about our cats and the work
we do, this is a good time to visit. Our cats love affection
and are always on the lookout for a new pair of hands! Prepare
to fall in love with at least one cat or kitten!!
You can come along at feeding time and make a fuss of the
cats; they love attention and affection. Bring your family
along; if you and your family are unsure of animals and cats
in particular this is a very good way to better understand
them and their needs. If you bring young children, please
keep them under supervision.
